Poem About Rabbit by Alice Schertle I am writing a poem about rabbit. A pink-eyed poem that watches from the edges of the page, that nibbles at the corners of my mind. A quiet poem The kind with long-eared lines that listen to where the words fall. A poem coming close enough to touch, standing still to watch me write a poem about rabbit.-----.

This poem is about my beloved rabbit, who I adopted in September of 2008. She can be very annoying at times, like when she puts her food bowl or stuffed animal in her water dish, or when she knocks the food out of my hand when I try to feed her. But it's all worth it when at night I read with her, book in hand and other arm wrapped around her.

Rabbits. My two white rabbits chase each other With bumping backs. They go hopping, hopping, And their long ears Go flopping, flopping. And they make faces with their noses Up and down. Today I went inside their fence To play rabbit with them. And in one corner Under a loose bush I saw something shivering the leaves. And I pushed and looked.
I have to admit I did get some help from my sister. Nobody knows the rabbit's nose, the way it twitches, the way it goes.
